Bridal sessions: What are they and why should you have one?

Today I wanted to talk about bridal sessions. What they are, why I recommend them to my brides, and how to make the most of yours!

First, let’s talk about what exactly a bridal session is. It’s a photo session with yours truly where we focus on photos of you as a bride! It’s typically a few months before your actual wedding day. You get to put on your wedding dress, get your hair and makeup done, and have me give you that wedding day hype girl energy you deserve!

I recommend bridal sessions to my brides for quite a few reasons, so let’s break them down.

You get to wear your wedding dress. That’s seriously a winner in my book because besides your wedding day you typically don’t wear your dress many more times. A bridal session is another chance for you to feel like a bride and wear that dress you said yes to!
Take this opportunity to have a hair and makeup trial. Oftentimes my brides may do a hair and makeup trial and then that’s it. They get their phone photos of what it’ll look like and go about their day. But you can line your bridal session up with your hair and makeup artists to get your trial AND see how it’ll be photographed on your wedding day!
We’re going to shake off the jitters. This reason kind of ties numbers 1 and 2 together. On your wedding day, you’ll feel so many different emotions and the day truly does fly by! A bridal session is a chance for you to sit in your wedding gown, see yourself as a bride, take some deep breaths and truly soak in this time of your life as you prepare to say “I do”.
Use this time for detail shots. Maybe you’re having a shorter wedding day or maybe you just don’t want to worry about all the small detail shots the morning of your wedding. No worries! We can use your bridal session to capture all those up close shots of your rings, your wedding day shoes, perfume bottle, veil, wedding invitations, and something borrowed and blue.
Girl time! Take this time to have some extra time with your girls! Invite your bridesmaids, your mom, mother in law, aunts, and grandmas to ooh and ahh over you! Maybe they won’t all be in the room getting ready with you the morning of your wedding day or maybe they couldn’t all make it to the dress shopping day. But the bridal session is another chance to have that special moment with the most important ladies in your life.

You spend so much time planning the perfect day and a bridal session is another way to showcase the time and energy you put into your wedding. It lets you relax, capture more amazing moments, and savor every last drop of being a bride!
